An 8-foot table is long enough that a draped or stretch cover can start to sag or shift at the midpoint, especially over a multi-hour event. A fitted table cover avoids that because it’s cut and box-sewn to the table’s exact corners rather than relying on tension across the whole span – the fabric holds its line the same way at the center as it does at the ends. That makes it the preferred choice for head tables, long registration counters, and buffet or display runs where the full length is on view at once.

A boxed cover hides everything underneath the table — which is great for looks, but means you need to decide up front how (or whether) anyone reaches that storage space during the event:

An 8-foot span is long enough that one center slit often isn’t enough if multiple people are working behind it — the multi-slit back is worth the small upcharge when two or more staffers need independent access points along the length.

Does an 8-foot cover need extra support to keep it from sagging?
No — the boxed corners and structured poly fabric are what keep the line straight, not added support underneath. That's the main advantage over a draped or stretch cover at this length.
We have two 8-foot tables pushed together for a head table — should we order one long custom cover or two standard ones?
Two standard 8FT covers are usually cleaner, since a single custom span that long is harder to keep wrinkle-free in transit. If you'd rather have one continuous piece, use the custom size option with your combined measurements.
Is the multi-slit back worth it for an 8-foot table?
If more than one person works behind the table at the same time, yes — it saves them from having to move down the length to reach a single opening.
Does production time change for the larger 8FT size?
No — still 6–8 days from proof approval, the same as our other fitted sizes.
